When it comes to design, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 looks quite similar to its predecessor, OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z. The new wireless earphones come in two colour options - Magico Black and Beam Blue. We got the Magico Black colour option for the review. As mentioned, the earphones feature contemporary neckband style design. Just like most earphones in this category, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 consists of two parts, the silicone neckband and plastic ends with volume rockers, control button and USB-C port. The earbuds are connected to the neckband via rubber coated wires.
The gadget only weighs around 23 grams and it almost feels weightless once you get used to it. The neckband comfortably sits on the collar without any discomfort or irritation. It feels quite sturdy and you don’t have much to worry about when it comes to durability.
The earbuds on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 feature a mix of matte and glossy plastic. OnePlus offers 3 pairs of ear tips with different sizes inside the box. Just like the neckband, the earbuds too are comfortable to wear for longer durations. Both the earbuds sport a magnet for the Smart Magnetic Control feature. The feature automatically turns off the power of the device when earphones are magnetically attached for a while and it also automatically turns on the earphones when separated. Also, the earbuds can connect to the last paired device automatically when separated.
The earphones get IP55 rating which means that they are water and dust resistant. You can also use the touch functions on the earbuds to answer/ decline a call or to control the output.
We were quite impressed by the output of the earphones. We did not notice any kind of distortion even at higher volumes. The bass was punchy and the earphones do the justice when it comes to mids and low. The vocals were crisp and each instrument could be heard at great depth. From hip-hop to jazz, the earphones left us impressed. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 lacks active noise cancellation but you will hardly notice it.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 comes with an inline microphone for taking calls. The earphones use AI scene-model algorithm, that helps to to adjust its call noise reduction level which helps to deliver clear voice while you are on the move or in the gym. It also gets Quick Pair and Quick Switch features that offer quick and smooth connectivity with other devices.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 comes with a USB Type-C charging port. It takes around 20 minutes to completely charge the device. OnePlus claims that the 200mAh battery in the earphones can deliver up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge. During our review period, the wireless earphones easily lasted more than a week with an average use of 2 hours daily. The earphone also offers quick charge support and can deliver up to 20 hours of music playback after 10 minutes of charging.
Priced at Rs 1,999, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 is a good choice for anyone looking for performance oriented affordable earphones. Impressive battery life and sound quality makes it a value buy. Although several of its competitors do offer active noise cancelling, the quality of OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 sets it apart. To wrap it up, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 is a reasonably good gadget in the segment it falls in.
