Creating buildings as defensive structures is one of the signature features of Fortnite. After having removed it, Epic Games has brought it back.
Other popular battle royale games like PUBG Mobile and Apex Legends do not have this feature.
This limited-time mode was the reason Epic nerfed the Building feature. It launched on March 20.
To compensate for the removal of the Building feature. Epic Games laid more stress on mobility features like climbing and faster sprinting.
In case you have been away from Fortnite for a while, you could find the Zero Build mode on the Discover page as Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads playlists. To get to Discover, go to the “CHANGE” button above “PLAY!” in the Lobby.
With the building option removed, players had the recharging Overshield as their first line of defence in Zero Build.
In the Zero Build Mode, players could “zip up Ascenders to access Blimps or use Mantling to get the high-ground over your opponents.”
Building has made a comeback but the Zero Build Mode is still active which means the two game versions are active side-by-side.
Epic Games announced in a tweet: "Building Is Back - Play Your Way! Sprint, climb, and smash your way to a Victory Royale whether you choose to build up in Fortnite Battle Royale or go no-builds in the new Fortnite Zero Build.”
Fortnite has also added The Diamond Pony Glider to the Item Shop. It is available for 1,200 V-Bucks.
